Todi (central Umbria)

a town and its medieval historic center set on a picturesque hilltop, parts of the town buildings dating back to the 1200's, while archeological finds show Todi dates back to the 8th-7th century BC.   The historic center is larger than a typical town, but smaller than a city, and there is plenty to do there.  Many restaurants and shops line streets that lead up to the main square, the Piazza del Popolo, with the beautiful Cathedral of Santissima Annunziata on one end, and old palaces surrounding the piazza.  The Church of San Fortunato is another historic piece of  architecture.
